Dr Schatz is a professor of pediatric endocrinology, the medical director of the Diabetes Center, and the associate director of the Clinical Research Center at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

He is the principal investigator and participant of a number of committees for the National Institutes of Health–funded TrialNet and TEDDY (The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young) studies. He also serves on the Slide Kit and Publications subcommittees of CADRE.

Dr Schatz is an associate editor of Pediatric Diabetes, on the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, and an ad hoc reviewer for a number of journals, including Diabetes Care, Diabetes, the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, and the Journal of Pediatrics. He is the author of over 120 publications.
