Dr. Peterson is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Practice and Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His administrative positions include member of the Educational Outreach subcommittee of CADRE, chair of the Health Care Providers Work Group, National Diabetes Education Program; National Diabetes Education Program steering committee member representing the American Academy of Family Physicians; chair of the Federation of Practice Based Research Networks; member of the Commission on Clinical Policy and Research for the American Academy of Family Physicians; member of the advisory committee for the Cardiovascular Disease Initiative of the American Diabetes Association; and founder and director of the East Metro Disease Initiative.
Dr Peterson is the developer of the electronic registry Diabetes Flow Manager. He is principle investigator for the clinical trial IMPACT (NIDDK, NIH); the MAFP Research Network (AHRQ); the Motivating Healthy Habits study (Robert Wood Johnson); the site principle investigator for the University of Minnesota DFPCH ACCORD Trial (NHLBI, NIH); and the editor of Practice Research News.
