Dr Fonseca is a professor of medicine and the Tullis-Tulane Alumni Chair in Diabetes in the Endocrinology Section at Tulane University Health Science Center. He is also medical director of the Tulane Hospital Diabetes Education Program and serves as staff physician and advisor at several medical and research centers in New Orleans. Dr. Fonseca serves as Chair of CADRE’s Educational Outreach subcommittee and is a member of the Web Site subcommittee.

Dr Fonseca has participated in many major research projects and clinical trials in the areas of endocrinology and diabetes. He has authored or coauthored over 200 publications, is associate editor of Diabetes Care and the Journal of the Metabolic Syndrome, is on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, and is a reviewer for numerous journals.

Dr Fonseca is a member of several professional organizations and has chaired or been a featured speaker at invited lectures both nationally and internationally. He serves on the American Diabetes Association’s Professional Practice Committee and Make the Link Program, and the Publications and Clinical Research Committees of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
